Båtsfjord is the purest fishing village on the coast of Finnmark. It sits in Båtsfjord. The population is approximately 2100. Båtsfjord is one of the largest fishing ports in Finnmark with about 10 000 boat arrivals a year and has a number of facilities for fish processing. It has three whaling stations. The first was built in 1884. Båtsfjord has a regular docking schedule for the Hurtigruta and an airport with regular flights. It has also a daily bus connections throughout Finnmark.
