Pomorhandelen hadde s
in blomstringstid på 1800 årstallet. Årlig kom det mellom 300 – 400 russiske skuter som drev byttehandel med korn, fisk med den norske lokalbefolkningen.
Siden Vardø hadde tollkontoret for Øst-Finnmark ble byen en hovedstad for pomorhandelen mellom lokal-befolkningen i Kvitsjøtraktene i Russland og kystområdene i Nord-Norge.
Utstillingen er produsert i Russland som følge av et godt samarbeid med Arkhangelsk statlige museum for trearkitektur og folkekunst.
Pomor Museum in Vardø
Pomor trade had its golden age in the 1800’s.. Yearly came between 300-400 Russian ships that ran trades with grain, fish with the Norwegian locals. Since Vardø had customs office for eastern Finnmark, the city was a capital of the Pomor trade between the local population in Kvitsjøtraktene Russia and coastal areas of northern Norway. The exhibition is produced in Russia as a result of good cooperation with Arkhangelsk state museum of wooden architecture and folk art.
